Our Story
Bay Country Painters began with a brush, a vision, and a young entrepreneur named Mike McGurk Sr. During the summer of 1983, between his junior and senior year of high school, Mike worked for J.K. Trader Contracting. Inspired by that experience, he invited his best friend John Engblom and John Trader to join him in launching what would become one of Maryland’s most respected painting companies.
Though John Trader eventually pursued a career as an Anne Arundel County paramedic, Bay Country Painters continued to grow—earning a reputation for reliability and craftsmanship across Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, and the greater Chesapeake Bay area.
